Camp Canada is thrilled about their recent visit to the Dominican Republic! Camp Director Liliana Avila Roque traveled from Mexico City to beautiful Santo Domingo, DR for 5 days.
Camp Consultant Ambar Mendez Perez was Liliana’s host during her stay in Republica Dominicana. Ambar has worked with Camp Canada since early 2015 and she was very excited to set up several interviews and visits for Liliana.
The duo visited several schools including The ABC School – The Americas Bicultural Academy and the Colegio Bilingue – New Horizons. Many of the students were fortunate enough to hear Ms. Liliana’s presentation about Camp Canada and we are confident that a number of them will travel to Nova Scotia from Dominican Republic in July 2016 to participate in Camp Canada.
Liliana met with several school owners and all were intrigued and keen to hear more about Camp Canada. We know that there is an excellent future for campers from the Dominican Republic attenidng Camp Canada!
One of Liliana’s highlights of the trip was an interview at a local radio station – Ritmo 96 FM! The interview went very well and many of the listeneres were able to hear more about the wonderful opportunity at Camp Canada. In fact, the interview went so well that Liliana was asked to do a 2nd interview at a 2nd radio station – this time the Levantate program at 90.5 FM! A very exciting day for Liliana and Camp Canada to be sure!
Liliana and Ambar hosted an information session that was attended by many families at the hotel Aladino in Santo Domingo. The presentation went very well and it was very exciting that Camp Canada alumni Luis and Nelson Cabrera along with their Mother Mrs. Luisa were all in attendance for the presentation and to give a testimonial! Near the latter stage of the presentation Liliana utilized the power of technology to allow fellow camp director Paul MacInnis and his young son Rylan to speak with the attendees all the way from Windsor, Nova Scotia.
Many thanks to Ambar for her great work organizing the week’s event for Liliana! Although this was Camp Canada’s first visit to Dominican Republic it certainly will not be the last visit! We look forward to meeting new campers from the DR this summer!
